about
LINEAGE Historic Preservation Services specializes in the preservation of our built environment including architecture, public art and monuments, historic landscapes such as cemeteries, murals, mid-century materials including metals and plastics, as well as historic interiors and architectural finishes. Teresa Duff, Chief Conservator and Director at LINEAGE, understands the importance of all aspects of our built environment and cultural heritage as a catalyst for community engagement. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, LINEAGE provides condition assessments, stabilization, conservation, maintenance, repair, restoration and long-term management of cultural heritage in the Western Pennsylvania Region and beyond.
Originally from Southern California, Teresa studied Art History at the University of California, Berkeley. After graduation, she began teaching in the Department of Education at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles where her love of art was woven into dynamic, context-based educational programming for school students and the public. Eventually, Teresa decided to live and work overseas, predominantly in Asia, where she traveled to over 22 World Heritage Sites. During her travels, she realized her passion for preservation of historic architecture, archaeological landscapes and public art. After returning to the US, Teresa began her graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, obtaining an M.S. in Historic Preservation, and, an Advanced Certificate in Architectural Conservation and Site Management.
Making Pittsburgh her home, Teresa began LINEAGE Historic Preservation Services in 2014, working on various projects providing conservation services ranging from consultation to field testing and research to treatment and project management. She has continued to teach art, art history and museum studies at schools and universities in the region. Teresa is a Professional Associate of the American Institute of Conservation.
